Abstract

Moonshot Pilot Site Case Study: Implementing federated authentication with Moonshot at the Diamond Light Source

Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire. It is free at point of access for researchers on peer reviewed UK scientific proposals. Additionally there are many collaborators from around the world leading to over 3500 external users a year conducting research on its 20 operational beam lines. Diamond wants to improve the use of its resources by allowing users to log into its systems with a supported credential of their choice. The participation in the Janet Moonshot project pilot, the wish of being able to log in securely into beam line workstations, cluster computing resources, file stores and web resources with the use of either Umbrella (Shibboleth) or eduroam credentials, is nearing reality.

This talk will be a practical discussion and demonstration of this functionality
